Chris grew up in the southern part of Hamden, attending Helen Street School. After attending Notre Dame High School, Chris chose to stay close to home an attend Southern Connecticut State University. After graduating in 1993, Chris was hired at SCSU as a graduate student and 29 years later serves in his current position of Associate Dean of Students.
Chris returned to Hamden in 2010, living in District 6 for 12 years before moving to District 4 in 2022. With 29+ years of higher education experience, Chris is passionate about education and strives to level the playing field and ensure access to educational opportunities. Chris strongly believes in relationship building and shared best practices. Teachers, parents, administrators, and students are faced with issues that require serious people to leave egos at the door so that trust can be built among constituent groups to enact positive change within our community. Working together, progress can, and will be made.
Chris is a recognized expert in school/campus safety, Chris has presented workshops and trainings nationally for the Department of Justice; Office of Violence Against Women
(DOJ/OVW), the National Association of Behavior Intervention & Threat Assessment (NaBITA), the National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and regularly trains the faculty & staff of the 13 colleges and universities in the CSCU System in Behavior Intervention, Threat Assessment & Title IX.
Chris has been asked to testify numerous times at the Connecticut General Assembly on Campus Sexual Assault, Title IX Response & Student Issues in Higher Education, including meeting basic student needs.
