David Lee Asbery is a sitting member of the Hamden Democratic Town Committee proudly representing the fabulous first district. He is a proud father of four, two of whom are graduates from Hamden High School, and two that currently attend the middle & high schools here in Hamden.
From 2015 to 2017, David was the President of the Human Rights and Relations Commission where he worked tirelessly to foster mutual respect and encourage equality amongst all members of the Hamden Community. In 2017 David formed a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Organization, Fixing Fathers, Inc. The organization’s mission is to teach all fathers that regardless of their marital status, their presence and their involvement in their child’s life is desperately needed.
In addition to David’s work with fathers and their families, Fixing Father’s annual trip to the Malcolm Bernard College Fair in New York City is a program created by David and his wife Tanisha. This program is responsible for providing 150 Connecticut parents and students with the opportunity to meet/greet college administrators from Historical Black Colleges and Universities. (HBCU) To date, this program has been instrumental in the college acceptance of more than 40 students.
David graduated from The College of New Rochelle with Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Communications. In 2012 Dr. David Asbery graduated from St. John Fisher where he received his Doctorate in Executive Leadership.
