The Issues Committee met on April 11, 2021 to discuss Councilwoman Valerie Horsley’s

Right to Counsel Petition
Call upon our elected representatives to propose and pass Right to Counsel legislation guaranteeing the right to no-cost legal counsel to all tenants facing eviction proceedings in the 2021 legislative session.
We urge you to sign the Connecticut Right to Counsel Petition
Policing Reform Legislation
Governor Lamont has signed policing reform legislation into law.
It increases accountability for those in law enforcement whose actions do not represent the values of the state and also increases the public’s trust of police officers. This long-term issue earned renewed focus this spring following the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and many others, by some police and law enforcement.
