Jorg Cabrera

17th Senate

Jorge is a first generation college student who met his wife, Rebecca, at Quinnipiac University in 1994. After graduating from Quinnipiac with a degree in Political Science the couple choose to live in Hamden and raise a family. Rebecca began her career as a public school teacher and Jorge worked in the Connecticut legislature as an aide to the first female speaker of the house before embarking on a career in the labor movement working in the trenches for economic justice.

Jorge has volunteered on many campaigns for Democrats at the local and state level. Most notably, he worked on the Obama 2008 campaign in the battleground states of North Carolina and Ohio. He has developed and executed direct mail, canvassing, media and communication plans for a variety of Democratic campaigns.

Jorge works for UFCW Local 919 which represents grocery workers at Stop & Shop. In 2019 Jorge helped lead a historic strike victory involving over 35,000 workers throughout New England.
