Having spent my entire career of more than 30 years managing and providing affordable housing to families, elderly, and young disabled residents around Connecticut as a property manager and a state regulator, I’m looking forward to applying my experience in Public Administration now as a policymaker representing our amazing and diverse 5th district. Our district is one of the greatest and most diverse in Hamden which includes Newhall, Prospect Hill, and the neighborhood I’m proud to call my home, Whitneyville.
There is a great deal of work to continue that was started by our outgoing Councilman, Justin Farmer. I’m humbled to follow in his powerful footsteps, his leadership is unmatched. I’ll continue addressing the infrastructure issues including the drainage issues in Newhall and the crumbling foundations that many of the residents are currently facing. We have work to address the traffic calming that is desparately needed on Whitney, Dixwell and Putnam Avenues. I will work to promote public safety through community crime prevention programs for our district’s youth and young adults, inculding substance abuse programming, housing insecurity and poverty prevention where young people can begin to feel like respected and valued members of our community.
“Rhonda is a powerful advocate for Hamden. She understands the issues facing our communities and is ready to continue the work. Let us continue to plant the seeds of change with Rhonda’s leadership”.
